SUNRISERS HYDERABAD WON THEIR FIRST MATCH IN IPL
Sunrisers Hyderabad won their first match of the IPL-2020 season with collective performance. Hyderabad beat Delhi Capitals by 15 runs on Tuesday. Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 162 for 4 in 20 overs. Johnny Bairstow (53 off 48 balls; 2 fours, 1 six) scored a half-century ... Captain David Warner (45 off 33 balls; 3 fours, 2 sixes), Kane Williamson (41 off 26 balls; 5 fours) excelled. Rabada, Amit Mishra Chero took 2 wickets.
Delhi Capitals then won by 147 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. All but Shikhar Dhawan (34 off 31 balls; 4 fours) and Rishabh Pant (32 off 27 balls; 2 fours, 2 sixes) failed. ‘Man of the Match’ Rashid Khan (3/14) struck his opponent with fine bowling. Bhubaneswar took 2 wickets.
The openers for the Sunrisers, Warner, and Bairstow, started the innings better, but no big shots were seen. The slow pitch is also a factor. The duo carefully tried to play at least half overs to keep the midfielder's weakness at bay. The Raiders scored 38 runs in the powerplay, including 2 fours and 1 six.
Hyderabad lost the first wicket when Warner was dismissed for a reverse sweep in Mishra's bowling after adding 77 off 57 balls for the first wicket. While Manish Pandey (3 off 5 balls) failed, Bairstow came back shortly after completing his half-century off 44 balls. Abdul Samad (12 not out off 7 balls) hit fours and sixes in a row at the end of Norway's bowling to cross the 150 marks.
FAILURE:-
The Delhi innings also faltered in the general target chase. Bhubaneswar dismissed Prithviraj Shah (2) in the first over, while captain Shreyas Iyer (17 off 21 balls; 2 fours) struggled as long as he was at the crease. Dhawan, on the other hand, tried to lead the innings carefully with his experience. However, no one was able to succeed in trying to play big shots.
With Rashid sending both of them back, the Raiders' hopes of victory increased. At this stage, Pant and Hetmire (21 off 12 balls; 2 sixes) tried to play a bit more aggressively. Pant in Abhishek bowling and Hetmire in Khalil bowling hit two sixes in a row. However, in the same vein, Bhuvi bowled Hetmire. With 46 off 21 balls, Delhi's hopes were on the line ... Rashid Khan added a dugout to give the Raiders a chance to win. And then even Stoinis (11) could do nothing.
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson showed his worth with fine innings in this match. He missed the first two matches due to injury and was named in the final squad to replace Nabi. Kane was instrumental in giving the Raiders a remarkable score with a strike rate of 157.69. In his own class style, he hit five beautiful boundaries. Williamson hit two fours in a row in Norway bowling and two in a row in Stones bowling ... The flick shot from Mishra bowling was the highlight of the boundary innings. He was out for the third ball of the final over.
SAMAD SMASH:-
19-year-old Abdul Samad has been named in the Sunrisers' final squad. This is the first IPL match for this boy from Jammu and Kashmir. Captain Warner handed Samad a cap before the match. Formerly from Kashmir, Pervez Rasool has represented three different teams in the IPL, while Rasikh Salam played one match for the Mumbai Indians last year. In 2018, Manzoor Dar was auctioned by Kings XI Punjab but was not given a chance in a single match.
