Forbes Magazine publishes a list of the richest people in the world, including India. Sonalika Tractors Chairman Laxman Das Mittal has been named in the list of 100 richest people in India. His assets are worth $ 2 crore, or Rs 15,000 crore. Let's find out about his story.

Many retire after the age of sixty and take rest at home. They raise their hands to say that they are no longer old enough to do any work. But one man started tractor maker Sonalika at the age of 60 while working as a LIC insurance agent and joined the list of richest people in India today.

Sonalica Tractors Chairman Laxman Das Mittal started his career in 1955 as an insurance agent at LIC. He then became a field officer and served in various states. He entered the business in 1966 while on the job. Began making farm machinery. 

Continued simultaneously with the job. Retired in 1990 as Deputy Zonal Manager. Started manufacturing tractors in 1994. Laxman Das Mittal has received many national and international honors. These include the prestigious Udyog Ratna Award. 

Laxman Mittal has three sons, the eldest is the Vice President of Amrit Sagar Company and the third son is Deepak Mittal Company MD. The second son is a doctor in New York. In addition, Laxman Das Mittal's grandsons Sushant, Raman manages marketing, product design, investor relations, international business, while one of his grandsons oversees the real estate business.

Laxman Mittal's daughter Usha Sangwan is a LIC MD. Usha Sangwan is the first woman MD at LIC. It is interesting to note that Laxman Das Mittal previously worked as an agent in this company. 

In 1969, he founded the Sonalika Group, which exports tractors to 120 countries around the world. Laxman Das set up the company to produce farm equipment, but later in 1995, he started making tractors. Lakshmana Das Mittal co-founded International Tractor Limited (ITL) with his sons and today has become the third-largest tractor manufacturer in India. 

Lakshmana Das Mittal ITL has a strong business in the northern Indian states. Sonalika tractors are purchased by farmers in the villages of Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh. The company manufactures over 3 lakh tractors a year. Apart from this, Laxman Das Mittal has dominated more than 50 horsepower machines. 

Even at the age of 90, Laxman Das Mittal oversees the company's performance. Apart from this, Laxman Das Mittal also manages his family business Sonalika Implements. Sonalika Implements manufactures seed drills.
