LEWIS HAMILTON HOLDS THE RECORD FOR MOST RACES IN 323 FI
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton did not miss this opportunity. Hamilton equaled the all-time record held by Michael Schumacher (Germany), the legendary racer in Formula One (F1).
The 35-year-old Hamilton won the German Eiffel Grand Prix on Sunday. Hamilton, who started the race from second place, finished the race 60 laps faster than anyone, finishing in 35 minutes 49.641 seconds. With this victory, Hamilton equaled the record held by Michael Schumacher (91 wins) since 2006 as the driver who has won the most races in F1.
Schumacher competed in 306 races and won 91 of his career. Hamilton achieved this feat in 261 races. With six more races remaining this season, Schumacher's record is set to be broken by Hamilton. The next race of the season is the Portugal Grand Prix on the 25th of this month.
Botas, another Mercedes driver who started the race in pole position, led until the 13th lap. Hamilton, who started from second place, overtook Botas in the 13th lap to take the lead. When Botas missed the race on Lap 18 ... the British driver never looked back. Verstappen (Redbull) was second and Ricciardo (Reno) was third.
Schumacher's son, Mick O'Brien, gave Hamilton a record for his father's record. Schumacher gifted a used helmet to Hamilton in the last season of his career (2012). On the other hand, former world champion Kimi Raikkonen (Alfa Romeo) holds the record for most races in 323 F1 races. Raikkonen
broke the record held by Barricelli (Brazil) with 322 races.
